Scholars are undertaking research and internships at 42 sites in 16 different countries throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Scholars from 27 majors have joined corporations, organizations, and programs that contribute directly to solving today's key problems in areas such as global health, environment and energy, access to education.

2016 MasterCard Foundation Scholars Graduates

Fifteen MasterCard Foundation Scholars at Michigan State University have celebrated their transition from students to alumni at at the university's spring commencement. The 2016 graduating class includes 12 master's students as well as three students receiving their bachelor's degrees—the first undergraduates to complete their degrees under the program, and the final of the pioneer class.

Ms. Hafsa Abass of Kenya (a freshman accounting major) has been elected by her peers to serve as the Michigan State University representative to The MasterCard Foundation (MCF) Scholars Program's Scholars Council. The mission of the MCF Scholars Council is: To Build, Connect, and Strengthen the Scholars Community– and its Vision for Transformative Leadership –by Creating Opportunities for Engagement, Information-sharing and Social Responsibility.
